Living the dream

An ex “city-girl” from Auckland, Carla Harcourt spent years juggling horses and city life, achieved through her membership and grazing at Mangere Pony Club for many years.

Having admired the combination of wonderful stallions that Ian and Lee Wynne-Jones imported from USA for their stud, with Wakonda-O-Indiana (Bud) the magnificent North American Spotted Draft and Platinum Playboy (Denny) a very rare, elegant Cremello American Warmblood/Saddlebred, Carla couldn’t resist when the opportunity arose to purchase two of their progeny, Sky and Smoke, as foundation stallions for her exciting new stud and to continue to make available these excellent all American blood lines.

Smoke (Onewerre Smoke Gtsn Yreyes) is by Denny who was imported from Bufalo by the Wynne-Jones’s.  Denny, being cremello, is guaranteed to throw palomino, buckskin or smokey black depending on the mare’s colouring. Smoke is of smokey black colouring,-  hence his name– having inherited the dilute gene from Denny and the black from his homozyogus black dam. He has inherited his dad’s amazing naturally elevated and elastic action and incredible presence and compounding the floating movement of his dam, he is sure to make an exceptional sire for all types or sport horse. Smoke is registered as a stallion with NZAHB.

Sky, (Onewerre Skysthelimit) is sired by Bud, the homozygous black and white pinto stallion from Indiana USA. Sky has inherited Bud’s incredible docile and people friendly temperament and because he is pinto, will throw pinto as well as solid colours.. As both Sky’s parents are homozygous for black, he will also have inherited this gene, ie  it is  expected that he will never throw chestnut.   Bud is built like a Percheron so throws nice solid types and it is expected that Sky will throw either athletic or solid types depending on the mare.  Sky has registration pending with NZAHB. Sky will be standing at stud for the 2011-2012 season.

Both Smoke and Sky share the same amazing dam, Faheems Ebony Amira (Pudding), imported from Texas USA, a beautiful purebred arab of rare homozygous black colour. These fabulous young stallions that Pudding has given us will never be repeated as this lovely mare will from now on be bred to purebred arabs.

With these strong bloodlines, Carla is confident that the options offered by these outstanding young stallions will be well received by future breeders as they cater for a wide range of needs, from people looking to produce coloured or golden, heavy or light foals.

In addition Smoke offers a new dimension to NZ breeders being one of only two American National Show Horse (half American Saddlebred and half Arabian) in NZ.  He displays the typical traits of his breed; trainability, elegance, sensational elevated action, presence, personality and of course incredible beauty.

The stallions will be making their debut into the show scene this upcoming season and Carla is anticipating a lot of interest in this new generation of WOW FACTOR STALLIONS.
